If 1 John 5:19 says that “the whole world is under the power of the evil one,” but rulers swear on the Bible, then the Devil rules with them. Considering that ‘Devil’ means ‘Slanderer,’ it is natural to expect that the Roman persecutors, being the adversaries of the saints, later bore false witness against the saints and their messages.
